Find below a YouTube video of Matt Cutts where he states that W3C validation does not affect search engine rankings. Well he must have upset quite a few SEO professionals out there that has been broadcasting for years that this is an important factor to “up” your search engine rankings”.
Well, error free code measured by the W3C code validator does not reward you with a higher search rankings on Google. I believe it just makes it easier for the search engine spiders to crawl your website if you have clean code on it but I will test this and write a follow-up blog post about it. I will also test how W3C validation affects your rankings on other search engines like Yahoo, Bing, MSN, etc.
